This is where he still goes on with his DIY art stuff with waste materials such as lamps, mugs, papers, and books, which he transforms into incredible visually beautiful art pieces, bringing his own unique brand of creativity to each project.
Turning Kids into DIY Experts
While being the host and creative director of the popular POGO show M.A.D, Harun Robert has helped millions of kids turn into DIY experts. During one of his interviews with an online magazine, Harun Robert talked about what led to the production of this show.
As per him, “There was no such thing as an art-based television program back then, at certainly not in this format. Everything was designed from the ground up, and I was fortunate enough to be a member of the planning team from the beginning.”
“In addition, my background as a designer and an art student helped me greatly in developing the show’s content. Because of the positive response, the channel produced hundreds of episodes of the show. I now consider myself fortunate and fortunate to have been a part of this show, which has aided in the launch of my career”, He added.
Rob from the POGO TV Series MAD
M.A.D. was hosted by Harun Robert aka Rob, an NID graduate, who came on board with some handy skills to turn everyday use objects into a fine piece of art. On some days, he’d put on a magician’s hat to make science projects even more fun for kids, while on others, he’d just splatter colours along a floor or on boards to create three-dimensional paintings.
This show made science fundamentals really interesting for kids. Furthermore, it helped them all to discover the hidden creativity within. Curiosity fuels Harun Robert’s imagination and he accepted the same thing during one of his TV interviews.
“I appreciate learning new things. When I have the time, I’d like to learn how to juggle or beatbox so that I may add it to my list of skills that I can utilise later. Right now, I’m fascinated by various shooting and filming techniques. There are so many young kids doing intriguing things with the way they make movies that I have to continue learning new skills if I want to compete with them,” he said.
Dealing with Crafty Kids
Harun Robert never planned of becoming a children’s entertainer. After earning his degree in animation and filmmaking from National Institute of Design, he was initially offered an illustrator job for the comic books. He denied that job and instead started working as a designer at an animation studio in Mumbai.
He came as a part of the designing team for another show on POGO when producers offered him MAD Art show. Harun Robert was sure about his artistic skills. Yet facing the camera came as his biggest challenge for the very first time.
Dealing with crafty kids, however, didn’t bother him much. Harun Robert always believed that an artist’s mission is to structure the complexity of the external world into designs that humans can understand.
He emphasized on the same notion during one of his interviews to a weekly magazine. “I believe that as an artist, I must simplify things,” he explains. “So, I didn’t want to preach to the youngsters on my show. I just wanted to be that friend who might know a few things you don’t. To make art more accessible to them, I analysed and reduced how certain things worked.” And it was successful.
“I have a tiny journal with me at all times – it’s a habit I picked up from art school, where we were encouraged to draw or doodle whatever we saw in the world. As a result, whenever I travel, I am constantly learning and constantly evolving while taking down notes. For example, if I go to a local market and see toys fashioned out of coconuts, I’ll take note of them and try to replicate them later,” he explains.
Journey from MAD to a Popular Youtuber

And although the number only reached to 1500 in a year, he didn’t give up and continued to keep his audience engaged. While Harun Robert assumed that his television success would automatically translate to digital platforms, it turned out otherwise, which was pretty disappointing for the artist.
As per Harun Robert, “To understand how the digital medium operated, I had to unlearn. I believe I am in a terrific spot right now. I am super happy. My online family has reached nearly 3 million followers and is continually expanding.
