You may have heard of “Fedora” at one point in your life. It was a very popular song on YouTube and recently, it has made a resurgence on TikTok. The song is known for its video as well as its catchy instrumental beat which has become a staple of Electronic Dance Music culture.
The creator of that song was a teenage musician who wore the said hat and had that song as his major hit. At the age of 15, he won his high school talent show at River HomeLink and was signed onto Voodoo Doughnut Recordings. Which was a record label tied with the famed Portland doughnut and coffee shop chain. He performed two times at the Sandy St. location, and also at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas at the location there in 2016 and 2017.
So where is he now? Does he still make music?
Nowadays, as an adult man, he does not release his music with Voodoo Doughnuts and does not wear a Fedora hat anymore. He has animated videos on his YouTube channel and uses his taste in juvenile fashion mixed with his adult sense of humor to appeal to teenagers and young adults. He also cross-dresses and promotes the idea of normalizing dresses and skirts as genderless clothing. Devin believes society misunderstands those who want to express themselves, and that society has unfair expectations that should be rethought.
Through his music and animated music videos and style, he wishes to spread this message more and more.
While he no longer wears a hat or does instrumental Electro House music, he continues to produce popular music while celebrating everyone’s differences. Many are familiar with his older self and continue to love him and his music unconditionally. His music has become more popular on social media due to his new change in self.
Devin Millar and his YouTube channel have been taking the internet by storm, and let’s hope he achieves his dream.
