This Australian Liberal Party Politician is the great great grand son of Charles Boydell Dutton, who was the pastoralist squatter. According to documentation submitted to the District Court of Queensland in 2000, Dutton’s resignation was caused by a loss of driving confidence as a result of an event on August 4, 1998. During a secret surveillance operation, Dutton was in an unbranded Mazda 626 when he collided with another vehicle. Dutton’s automobile was crushed while pursuing an escaping inmate who drove erratically.
He was also injured in the accident, sustaining numerous physical ailments as a result. Dutton was hospitalized for approximately a week and bedridden for a week after the collision. Soon after, he applied for $250,000 in damages from the insurance company for an escaped prisoner; however, he dropped the claim later in 2005.
